Loonie strengthens along with crude oil as markets climb

TORONTO – The loonie continued to strengthen against the American dollar this morning.

The Canadian dollar was up half a cent at 78.15 cents US at about 11 a.m., after rising half a cent on Friday to 77.65 cents US.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 136.40 points at 14,038.17, with resource stocks leading the gains.
