Hritzuk and Kopach Looking to Add to Collection

Perennial contenders and champions, Eugene Hritzuk and Merle Kopach lead the field at the 2016 Master’s Provincial Championships at the Melfort Curling Club. Both teams are looking to capture their fifth title in this competition that features players that must be 60+ to be eligible.  Hritzuk won titles in 2010 and 2012-2014 adding two Canadian Master’s titles along the way.  Kopach is looking to continue her string of four straight titles and add to her national accomplishments with a third Canadian title.

Seven other women’s teams and eleven men’s teams are looking to add their names instead to the Saskatchewan Champions roster.  The men will start to make their claim on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. playing a 5 game round robin within one of the two pools.  The the women start their three game, two pools of four teams, round robin series Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.  Line scores on the CURLSASK Scoreboard page.

The champions will be declared as early as Sunday morning at 10:00, with the Final games time dependent on tiebreakers.  Saskatchewan champions will go on to represent the province at the National Championships in Wolfville/Kentville, NS from April 4 -10, 2016.
