Armed special constables will respond to impaired drivers, other rural crimes
The Saskatchewan government has turned its commercial vehicle enforcement unit into a highway patrol, giving officers new powers to investigate impaired drivers and respond to crimes.
Starting July 1, the former Commercial Vehicle Enforcement department will be renamed the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol.
