Kennewick, Washington – The Regina Pats (19-20-3-4) ended their six game road trip against the Tri-City Americans (19-23-2-0). The Pats came back from a pair of two goal deficits, but dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to the Americans.

Game Story
The host Americans got on the board first in Saturday’s contest when Tyler Sandhu slipped around a defender, then slid a back door pass to Dylan Coghlan who knocked in the feed. The Pats nearly tied the game on the powerplay when Cole Sanford broke in alone, but Evan Sarthou came up with the shoulder save. Late in the frame, Tri-City added to its lead when Morgan Geekie tipped in a Parker Wotherspoon shot. The goal was reviewed for a high-stick, but counted as the Americans took a 2-0 lead to the break.
Regina stormed back into the game in the middle period as Adam Brooks snuck the puck between a pair of defenders before chasing down the bouncing disc and slinging it into the net. Just a minute later, Brooks set up Jared Freadrich who popped a wrister in off the shoulder of Sarthou, tying the game at 9:03. The Americans grabbed the lead back at 12:26 when Chase Harrison played the puck off the Pats’ back-wall, but right into the crease and Jordan Topping tapped it to the back of the net. With Tri-City on the powerplay, Kyle Olson slid a pass in front that missed its intended recipient, but found the Pats net for a 4-2 Ams lead after forty.
Early chances abounded for the Pats in the frame. The best came off the stick of Sam Steel when he backhanded a Sean Richards rebound off the post with Sarthou down and out. The Pats finally cut into the lead with 7:35 left in the period when Steel spun a pass in front to Cole Sanford who bagged his second as a Pat. The Blue and White erased their second two goal deficit of the game when Rykr Cole worked his way to the tying goal with 5:19 left. That set the stage for Tyler Brown to shut the door. The Pats goaltender made 10 saves in the third, sending the game to overtime tied 4-4. Brown didn’t stop there, turning away a Tri-City two-on-one in the extra period. Adam Brooks nearly ended it for the Pats, but was foiled by the post. The shootout saw Tyler Brown and Evan Sarthou put on a show. Deep into the shootout, Brandon Carlo managed to solve Tyler Brown and the Pats couldn’t beat Sarthou as they fell 5-4 in the shootout
