Blaze started after grass fire went out of control
Police will not be laying any criminal charges after a grass fire burned up a historic train bridge near Porcupine Plain, Sask. last week.
On Friday, local land owner Brian Foster started a grass fire that went out of control and spread onto the wooden bridge.
Police have determined that the fire was accidental and that Foster didn’t intend to set the bridge on fire.
Foster was trying to burn grass off walking paths in the area when the fire hit the creosote-soaked posts.
RCMP are reminding people to always contact local rural municipalities for burn permits and to notify local fire departments if you intend to burn land.
