The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers had a late evening Friday, as they played past the 60 regulation minute, adding another five sudden death minutes and capping the night off with a shootout, where the home team came away ahead.
With Nathan Hargrave in net for his second start in as many nights, it was looking like another slow game with a lot of skating and transition play but very little scoring.
The first twenty minutes was a scoreless draw, Hargrave keeping busy in the Kindersley net, turning away 18 shots in that time, his counterpart at the other end, only saw seven pucks.
The second was just as quiet as the first period until Weyburn broke the scoreless tie and deposited two behind Hargrave to take the 2-0 into the intermission. The Kinderley net minder again saw lots of puck as the Red Wings continued to pepper him with shots, this time with another 14 shots.
The Red Wings continued to play their game and the Klippers continued to battle the slow start and the lack of puck luck. Weyburn took to the score sheet again and added another one for good measure to take the game to a 4-0 lead for the Red Wings.
The Klippers were clipped in a 4-0 shutout, again letting putting them in the position of trying to get inspired and string together a few wins in a row.
Both teams were 0 for on their respective power plays. Hargrave faced a total of 43 shots in the loss, but the room remained upbeat despite suffering the shut out.
The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers hit the road for a three in three road trip starting Wednesday against the Hounds, Thursday in to play the Bruins and visit the Red Wings to wrap up the trip on Friday. The next home game for the Klippers is against Flin Flon, Thursday, December 17, game time at 7:30.
