Safe Young Drivers is Coming to Kindersley

Source: Sask Safety News Release, March 15, 2018

Summer is coming and that means more young people working and driving on the roads.

To protect those youth from injury, the Saskatchewan Safety Council is bringing free hands-on safety training to 18 youth between 16 and 21 years of age who reside in or near the community of Kindersley. The 2-day plus one evening event will be called “Safe Young Drivers”.

Partial funding for the Safe Young Drivers project comes from SGI Traffic Safety Promotion and the Acquired Brain Injury Partnership.

Through the Safe Young Driver project, 18 participants will receive the Young Worker’s Readiness Certificate Course, WHMIS 2015, First Aid and CPR, and Defensive Driving at no cost to them.

Hosting the event as an in-kind donation is the SPOKES Family Resource Centre. SPOKES Family Resource Centre in Kindersley offers information about upcoming community events, and local services. Their goal is to link families and community members with services in the area as well as, aid development of programs tailored to meet the needs of their community.

Participants must be available to attend sessions on the evening of April 26th, and the two days of April 27th and 28th. Registration opens March 15th, 2018 and closes when full or April 13th. Registration is a first-come, first-serve basis and you must register by emailing cse@sasksafety.org.

Corporate and personal donations in support of the project may be made on the Council website at www.sasksafety.org

Interested youth between the ages of 14 and 21 who can not attend the Safe Young Drivers event may participate in Career Safety Education, our free online safety program with industry focused safety orientations. Career Safety Education includes training in worker rights and responsibilities through the Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course, training in basic chemical safety through WHMIS 2015, and one standardized industry designed safety orientation.
