Safety Tips to Ensure Your Kids a Safe & Fun Halloween
Walk Safely
- Glow sticks are a fun and safe way to help your kids be seen by drivers. Or, if your little trick-or-treater prefers, a flashlight.
- Teach your kids to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
- Remember, always cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks.
Safe & Creative Costumes
- Decorate your child’s costume and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
- Make sure the costume is the right size to prevent your child from tripping and falling.
- A face mask can obstruct a child’s vision, instead opt for face paint or makeup.
Before You Eat, Inspect Your Treat!
- Check and sort treats before consuming them.
- Be sure to examine wrappers for signs of tampering, such as pin-holes and slits.
- Throw out any home-baked goods.
- Remember to read labels for food allergies.
- Remove chocking hazards for small children, such as gum, peanuts and hard candy.
Please Drive With Caution!
Motorists, please remember to decrease your speed and watch out for children crossing the street. Exit or enter your driveways and alleys slowly and with caution.
