Saskatchewan set a new single-day record for natural gas use as temperatures plunged over the weekend.
SaskEnergy says 1.29 petajoules of natural gas was delivered to its customers during a 24-hour period between Saturday and Sunday. That’s a two per cent increase over the previous record of 1.27 petajoules a day, which was set on Jan. 4, 2015.
Since then, the Crown-owned utility has added more than 5,000 new customers.
The average home in Saskatchewan uses about 105 gigajoules of natural gas annually.
