Saskatchewan: bitter cold is coming

With wind, it will feel like –36 C on the weekend

Those Saskatchewan residents who’ve been longing for traditional, bone-chilling January temperatures will get their wish this weekend.

After weeks of milder-than-normal conditions in the southern parts of the province, the mercury is about to drop with temperatures approaching –30 C.

According to Environment Canada, Regina will get no warmer than –15 on Saturday. With the wind factored in, it will feel like –36, the weather agency says.

The situation will be similar in Saskatoon, with a high of –19 and wind chill temperatures of about –37 on Saturday.

In Prince Albert, the projected high is –21. With the wind, it will feel like –36.
