Saskatchewan harvest ahead of five-year average

Harvest is ahead of schedule in Saskatchewan, with 39 percent of the crop in the bin, compared to the five-year average of 25 percent, according to the weekly crop report from Saskatchewan Agriculture released Sept. 6.

Harvest is the furthest along in the southwest corner with 60 percent of the crop combined. The southeast is 56 percent complete; the west-central and east-central regions are at 32 percent, while the northeast is at 14 percent and north-west at eight percent.

The provincial fall rye harvest is almost complete at 97 percent, while the winter crop is 92 percent harvested.
