Shane Sawatzky: Why I love Teaching CrossFit

I love teaching CrossFit.  It is for anyone who would like to improve themselves.  It can be adapted to anyone’s ability, so as an instructor, I can help everyone reach their individual goals.  You may wish to lose weight, improve your sport, or just have more energy for your kids. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

Community Atmosphere

Whether you are just starting out, or have been doing CrossFit for years, everyone is here to support each other.  In a CrossFit community, it is recognized that everyone is at a different ability but, the goal is the same for everyone. Improvement. Members are constantly helping each other and all coaches want nothing more than to see someone improve. As a coach, I know, if I see improvement in someone’s CrossFit ability, then I know that improvement will spill over to other aspects of someone’s life.

Safety

As a coach I want to teach you the right way to do things.  When you learn proper technique, it reduces your chance for injury.  Less injury means we can hit our goals more quickly.

Functional Movement

As a person heading into my second century of life, functional movement becomes more and more important.  From being able to properly pick things off the ground, to being able to get my body up and down, CrossFit helps keep me out of the nursing home!

Fun

There is nothing like an energized class to get you going as a CrossFit instructor. Feeding off that energy, I in turn energize the class and it becomes a continuous circle. For all these reasons I love being a CrossFit instructor, however it’s the people that I teach that are reason number one!
