Canada’s Junior National Team defeated the United States 24 – 6 in the gold medal game at the 2016 IFAF U19 World Championship in China on July 10.
Canada and the U.S. have faced one another in each of the first four U19 World Championship finals.
Six members of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie football team were on the squad. Linebackers Ben Whiting, Logan Mainiland Erik Thakurdeen, defensive back Bowman Lewis and new recruit Mason Nyhus were all on the roster. Special teams coordinator Brian Guebert was a coach with the team.
