Southwest continues to experience record breaking warm weather

For the second time in three days record breaking warm weather has been experienced across the Southwest.

On Saturday, both Leader and Maple Creek basked in temperatures around the 20 Celsius mark.
Maple Creek was the provincial hotspot on March 12, climbing to a new record high of 20.8 Celsius and edging the previous record of 19.9 set in 2007.
Leader climbed to 19.2 Celsius to just edge the 19.0 Celsius previous record temperature recorded in 2007.
The region also experienced record weather on March 11, with both Leader and Swift Current setting new high temperature records.
Leader climbed all the way to 19.4 Celsius on Thursday to erase the previous record of 16.0 Celsius set all the way back in 1924. Swift Current set a new record of 15.7 Celsius to narrowly edge the previous high of 15.3 Celsius set in 1995.

A total of 10 Saskatchewan communities set records on March 12, including:
Broadview – New record, 12.4 Celsius. Old record, 11.6 Celsius set in 2007.
Elbow – New record, 14.0 Celsius. Old record, 13.4 Celsius set in 2007.
Estevan – New record, 16.4 Celsius. Old record, 15.8 Celsius set in 2007.
Kindersley – New record, 14.5 Celsius. Old record, 13.6 Celsius set in 1995.
Regina – New record, 13.4 Celsius. Old record, 11.3 Celsius set in 1992.
Rosetown – New record, 15.6 Celsius. Old record, 12.5 Celsius set in 1995.
Saskatoon – New record, 12.6 Celsius. Old record, 11.7 Celsius set in 1934.
Watrous – New record, 11.7 Celsius. Old record, 8.6 Celsius set in 2007.

Environment Canada reported five new weather records on March 11 to begin an unusually warm weekend across Saskatchewan.
Broadview – New record, 13.3 Celsius. Old record, 12.5 Celsius set in 1981.
Estevan – New record, 16.1 Celsius. Old record, 14.7 Celsius set in 1981.
Regina – New record, 14.0 Celsius. Old record, 13.3 Celsius set in 1934.
Watrous – New record, 9.7 Celsius. Old record, 9.0 Celsius set in 1981.
Weyburn – New record, 14.3 Celsius. Old record, 14.0 Celsius set in 1981.

The unseasonably warm temperatures arrived on March 10 when nine new record highs were set across the province.
Broadview – New record, 11.1 Celsius. Previous record, 9.3 Celsius set in 1981.
Elbow – New record, 15.4 Celsius. Previous record, 13.9 Celsius set in 1990.
Estevan – New record, 16.3 Celsius. Previous record, 13.7 Celsius set in 2012.
Kindersley – New record, 16.2 Celsius. Previous record, 14.0 Celsius set in 1995.
