Due to elevated pollution levels of smoke, Environment Canada has issued a special air quality alert. Reduced visibility in smoke and poor air quality will continue in the area due to the forest fires in Northern Saskatchewan.
Degraded air quality is expected as the smoke works its way eastward. Smokey or hazy conditions will likely return on Friday as westerly winds are expected to redevelop and spread smoke plumes eastwards once again.
Be advised that individuals may experience symptoms such as throat irritation, shortness of breath, increased coughing, or headaches. Seniors, children, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
Stay inside if you have breathing difficulties. Please be advised to find a place inside that is cool and ventilated.
