Stars Shoot Down Klippers

Consistency is what the bench staff of the Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers is striving for. As the squad says good bye to 2015 and looks towards a new start in 2016, the search for answers continues.

To close out the 2015 portion of the schedule, the Klippers welcomed in the league leading North Stars who put together a game that showed why they are the league leaders and why the concern over consistent effort is serious.

The Klipper opened up the scoring midway through the period, Daniell Lange finding the back of the net with help from Dexter Bricker and Austin Calladine, but the lead was short lived as the Stars scored their first goal of the game. The visitors then capitalized on a Kindersley trip to the penalty box to go up 2-1 and didn’t look back.

The Stars opened the scoring in the second with another power play tally to go up 3-1. Josh Bly cut the lead to a goal with his second goal of his campaign, assisted by Matt VanderSloot. That was all the Klippers could manage to put behind the Stars netminder, Ryan Rewerts. The Battlefords team would add one more before the end of the second to close out the scoring for the period and for the rest of the game.

Guarding the mesh for the Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers was Nathan Hargrave who was looking for his fourteenth win of the season but instead made a gallant effort to keep the Klippers in the game, making some great and important saves in the process. He faced a total of 35 shots during his 60 minutes of work on the night while the Klippers only managed 28 shots on Rewerts.

The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers power play was 1-4 on the night, a shade better that the Stars at 2-10.

The same two teams will go head to head again on January 2, 2016 on the road in the Battlefords before returning home to face the Estevan Bruins at the WCEC, Thursday January 7, game time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Don’t forget that the Klippers Lottery draw is happening January 9, between the second and third period, when the Klippers play host to the Melville Millionaires. Don’t get left out, buy your ticket and support the Kindersley Klippers in the process. Grand Prize is $100,000.
