Regina, Saskatchewan – The Central Scouting Service released its midterm rankings for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft today. Three Regina Pats forwards, Sam Steel, Adam Brooks and Adam Berg, were listed in the rankings. Today’s list is the first set to include each player’s numbered rank.
Sam Steel leads the Pats contingent at 29th among North American Skaters. The Sherwood Park, AB product is second on the Pats with 43 points (15G, 28A) in 46 games. Steel is closing in on a milestone, needing just three more points for the 100th of his WHL career. He was a member of Canada’s gold medal winning team at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament this summer. The second-year forward will participate in the BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects on January 28, 2016 as a member of Team Cherry.
Adam Brooks is in the midst of an exceptional season that has him ranked 107th among North American Skaters. Brooks leads the WHL in scoring with 71 points (27G, 44A) in 46 games. That mark already eclipses his previous career high of 62 points in the 2014-154 season. The Winnipeg, MB native is tied for fifth in goal scoring and is second in assists. Brooks attended the 2015 Traverse City Prospect Tournament with the New York Rangers. He is in his third year of draft eligibility.
Adam Berg comes in at 155th among North American Skaters. The rookie forward has 20 points (9G, 11A) in 45 games. Berg was listed on the preliminary Central Scouting Watch List at the beginning of the season. He played the bulk of last season with the Calgary Mustangs of the AJHL, before joining the Pats for 12 regular season games and 9 playoff games.
