Kale Stalk Smoothie with Orange and Hazelnuts

Ingredients:

Zest of 1/2 orange
1 orange, peeled and deseeded
1 banana, peeled and chopped
2 pitted Medjool dates
2 kale leaves, including stems
1/4 cup (60 mL) whole roasted hazelnuts
4 ice cubes
Water, to thin, as needed

 

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients except water to blender (preferably high speed) in order listed, plus a splash of water. Blend on high until smooth and creamy. Thin with water until desired consistency. Serve immediately.

Serves: 2

Tip:

If you don’t have roasted hazelnuts handy, try walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, or a generous scoop of unsweetened nut or seed butter.
